NEWS RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Coal Council (ACC) is pleased to announce that the University of Calgary, Faculty of Environmental Design has conferred on Jason Hayes, ACC Communications Director, the degree of Master of Environmental Design (Environmental Science). Convocation ceremonies were held in June, 2008.
The Master of Environmental Design (Environmental Science) degree is a graduate studies program that prepares students for professional practice in environmental science from an interventionist, professional, and interdisciplinary perspective. As part of the Masters program, students are required to develop specific knowledge and skills through learning and research in ecosystem and natural resource management and assessment and management of environmental impacts. The required core and elective studies are complemented by the completion of a “Masters Degree Project,” which is similar in scope and requirements to a traditional thesis, but also possessing an “applied science” requirement.
Founded in 1971, the Faculty of Environmental Design has graduated thousands of professionals that practice internationally in industry, government, and academia.
"The ACC is the pre-eminent business voice of the American coal industry. The Association is dedicated to advancing the development and utilization of American coal as an economic, abundant and environmentally sound fuel source."
